Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking an Underground Construction Supervisor to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working either a 7/7 or 14/14 rotation.
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
As part of the Underground Management Team, the Construction Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating underground mining operations to ensure safe and efficient production. The Underground Supervisor manages a team of underground construction miners, coordinates drilling and blasting activities, and implements safety protocols to minimize risks. This role involves monitoring production targets, evaluating equipment performance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:
•Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
•Supervise, train, and mentor a team of underground miners, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and safe mining operations.
•Monitor and coordinate underground mining activities to achieve production targets while optimizing resource utilization.
•Coordinate equipment allocation, maintenance, and repair to ensure reliable and efficient equipment performance.
•Plan and oversee temporary and permanent
•Plan and oversee drilling and blasting operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and productivity standards.
•Maintain accurate records of production data, equipment performance, and shift reports for reporting and analysis purposes.
•Implement quality control measures to ensure that mined materials meet specified quality standards.
•Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost-saving measures, and operational efficiencies within the underground mining operation.
•Ensure compliance with mining regulations, environmental permits, and company policies related to underground mining operations.
•Be prepared to respond to emergencies or incidents that may occur during underground mining activities, following established emergency protocols.
•Foster effective communication and collaboration with other mine site departments and personnel to optimize overall mine site operations.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
•Minimum Grade 12 diploma or GED or a combination of education combined with a minimum of 15 years underground work experience
•3-5 years experience working in underground mining operations, with progressive responsibilities and previous supervisory experience.
•Possession of relevant safety certifications, such as Mine Supervisor Certification, First Aid, and Blasting Certificate, is highly desirable.
•Strong understanding of underground mining methods, equipment, and drilling and blasting techniques.
•Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse group of underground mining personnel.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey instructions, coordinate with teams, and communicate with mine site management.
•The ability to identify and address operational challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
•Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage shifting priorities in a dynamic mining environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of $115,500 per year for fully qualified candidates. We offer an annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
