Overview
This position is responsible for transmission lines construction asset and right of way inspections, planning, coordinating, benchmarking, budgeting, and administering activities related to storm restoration, and transmission lines clearing of utility rights of way and various ROW maintenance programs. This position will manage contract crews, interact with property owners, business partners and LKE customers to ensure a positive customer experience.
This position could potentially be located in other areas within the KU territory.

Responsibilities•Learns to navigate low level aerial flight patrols via LG&E and KU’s helicopter for the Transmission Lines department for the following reasons: post construction/pre-energization inspections, storm damage assessments, emergency outages, line operation investigations, PSC line construction asset inspections and ROW maintenance activities.
•Can identify transmission and distribution system voltages, structure types, system defects to equipment and navigate the transmission network and utility interconnects via aerial patrols.
•Work outside of normal business hours is required for these activities. Contributes to NERC FAC003-4 and PSC Asset Inspection Compliance and supports quarterly NERC submittals for asset inspection and encroachments.
•Documents, tracks, and manages the inspection requirements for 7 RSAWS and PSC Inspections.
•Participates in both NERC and PSC audits and NATF Peer Reviews.
•Learns how to interpret plan and profile prints, understand transmission line construction, associated equipment, and generate reports for groundline and clearances.
•Becomes familiar with PLS CADD and has a working knowledge of wire characteristics (max sag & blowout conditions) with the ability to generate reports for each easement.
•Learns to read and interpret easements and make prescribed work recommendations.
•Assists in developing and managing project work plans, environmental permitting, cost estimates and financial forecasting, and change management (scope/schedule/budget) utilizing Microsoft Excel and GDI WorkStudio (Work Management Software).
•Responsible for the oversight of herbicide (aerial/ground), aerial saw, staff augmentation personnel, and line clearing contractors; including safety programs, quality control, contractor performance, bid preparation, and work assignments.
•Contributes to business planning and budgeting for the department.
•Ensures budget compliance through actuary monitoring, invoice approval, approving project activities, and managing and controlling contractor resources, including equipment costs.
•Coordinates property owner notifications and mailings; including in-person when necessary. Resolves service requests, customer complaints and property damage claims.

Qualifications
Required Education
Two-year degree in construction, project or forestry management, or other utility technical related degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Required Experience•1+ years utility-related lines construction, transmission lines design, project manager/coordinator or other relevant transmission lines experience.
•Is comfortable with public speaking, has self-awareness and conflict resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications
•Four-year degree in construction, project management, or other utility-related technical degree
•Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, GIS, PowerBI, Database entry
•Excellent Organizational and Planning skills
•Exceptional Oral and Written communication skills
•Experience managing budgets, project timelines, productivity, safety, contractor scorecards, maintaining metrics and providing construction feedback to contractors.
•Some exposure to public speaking.
•Self-awareness and conflict resolution skills required.
•ISA Certified Arborist Utility Specialist, Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicators License a plus but not required.
•Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.
