The Transmission Operations Engineer II/III/Senior
performs engineering studies in support for various Transmission Operations and Balancing Authority Operations including power flow and contingency analysis, implementation of security constrained economic dispatch, and implementation of flowgate methodology for transmission services. Performs engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis. Work is performed with general guidance over specific engineering design, modifications, and technical assistance. Provides limited technical guidance and leadership to others as needed. May be subject to occasional on-call responsibilities.
- A four year Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution
plus
two (2) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
- A four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions
A four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
Approved Engineer degrees:
Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)
- Knowledge of power flow, contingency analysis, security constrained economic dispatch, and/or transmission services.
- Familiarity with Energy Management System (EMS) and Real-Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA).
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.
