Department: Transmission Engineering
•Experience on transmission line design (up to 345kV).
•Proficient with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, MFAD, and SAG10 software.
•Experience creating estimates for transmission line work.
•Experience creating scopes of work or specifications for equipment, material, and services procurement as required for transmission line design and construction.
Personnel in these job titles may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

Under general supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, practices and procedures commonly employed in a specific area of assignment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provides the engineering expertise necessary to support intermediate projects that are generally conventional in nature.
•Conducts or participates in studies of intermediate size that evaluate performance, cost, and scheduling criteria of a limited number of alternatives.
•Applies routine engineering techniques, practices, and procedures in support of operational areas.
•Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations effectively to engineering and non-engineering individuals and groups.
•Represents the Company in intermediate engineering matters.
•Interacts with and provides technical support consistent with the application of well-established standards to other associates.
•Participates in the formulation of Company and industry standards.
•Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and Company personnel as required by specific assignments/projects.
COMPETENCIES:
•Knowledge of and ability to apply standard engineering principles, practices and regulations, and economic and decision analysis principles to area problems including, but not limited to, generation, transmission, distribution, fuels, system planning, financial and regulatory issues, asset utilization, and environmental controls and regulations.
•Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state, and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.).
•Demonstrated good leadership skills, self-motivation, and good interpersonal skills.
•Ability to translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for improving system reliability.
•Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) electrical facilities and equipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a college/university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), plus 2 or more years of engineering experience or 1 or more with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate or 1 or more years plus a Master's Degree in Engineering.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
•Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred.
•Must possess current, legally valid driver's license and meet the Company's driving record requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
•Ability to read and interpret documents.
•Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, write speeches, and presentations.
•Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and managers of the organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
•In-depth knowledge of personal computers including demonstrated proficiency with electrical engineering design programs, AutoCAD, Word, Access, Excel, Windows, etc.
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
•Ability to deal with complex problems involving several concrete variables in complicated situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•This position requires periods of frequent sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to outside elements, lifting (50 pounds or under), crouching, bending, climbing, and working at various heights.
•Protective Equipment Required Hard-hat, safety glasses and hearing protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•Time will be divided between office and field, with a majority of time in the office.
•Work will be around high voltage electricity, computers, office equipment, and construction equipment.
