To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Transformer Technician II Supervisor to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Transformer Technician II Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and assisting in the installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing of a wide variety of transformers from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). - Oversee and participate in transformer assembly, including radiators, bushings, and conservators.
- Perform and supervise degassing procedures, oil sampling, oil fills, and operation of oil processing rigs per dry-out protocols.
- Lead pressure testing and vacuum operations using a dehydrator unit to ensure equipment reliability.
- Manage re-gasketing of transformers and fabrication of gaskets and O-rings.
- Direct removal of damaged parts and preparation of units for transport.
- Troubleshoot control wiring to resolve system issues and ensure functionality.
- Complete assigned work orders and daily repair tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Operate industrial and construction equipment safely, adhering to capacity and load limits.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe working condition through regular inspections and maintenance.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and environmental standards, including spill containment protocols.
- Collaborate with Sales to identify and share leads for potential projects.
- Support recruitment efforts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.- 5+ years of experience in transformer oil work, transformer testing, transformer assembly, transformer service, or transferable experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office, online tools, and basic computer skills.
- Class A CDL, OSHA, and TWIC cards are highly preferred.
- Advanced Load Tap Changer experience.
- Previous experience operating electrical equipment and shop tools is a plus.
- Prior experience in degassing and oil processing is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both internal and external customers positively and professionally.
- Knowledge or related experience in prepping units for disposal following proper environmental disposal procedures is a plus.
- Able to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests, and a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Must complete annual safety training to remain compliant with company policies and safety regulations. Training may occasionally require travel outside the employee’s assigned state or region.
- Valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently (minimum 80%), including daily drives to customer job sites and periodic overnight stays; flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights as needed.

This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call-outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces, adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves the risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.
The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling, and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
