Real-Time Control Room personnel, Operations Support staff, and field Protection Leaders while prioritizing safety and the resilient operation of the transmission system.
Conducts training for the Operations Control Room (OCR) staff using any combination of classroom instruction, guest speakers, computer simulation, field observation, testing, and on-the-job training.
Assists in the research, design, development and delivery of training modules, manuals, materials, job aids, lesson plans, and policies and procedures related to basic transmission system operations.
Responsible for maintaining detailed records of all aspects of training, in compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) requirements.
Assists with administering simulation-based training for various system and non-system emergency scenarios to enhance preparedness and decision-making.
Assists with analyzing system operating events to identify performance gaps and training improvement opportunities for future training material and/or classes.
Assists administering classes and testing for OCR personnel to obtain or maintain NERC System Operator certification.
Participates in skill and method enhancement training by attending seminars, classes, meetings, and events to acquire new skills and methods of instruction.
Designs and develops interactive e-learning modules and computer-based training using tools such as articulate storyline, animation software, video production platforms, and other multimedia technologies to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.
Primary work location is Ann Arbor, MI with travel to Novi, MI as required.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Training and Development, Instructional Design, Adult Learning or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a training role, consisting of technical or electric industry training that utilizes instructional design based in a Systematic Approach to Training and/or three (3) years of experience as a Transmission System Operator or equivalent experience.
NERC System Operator Reliability Coordinator (RC) Certification or ability to obtain RC certification within six (6) months of hire required.
Experience complying with NERC reliability standards and/or the NERC certification and continuing education program preferred.
Demonstrates ability to develop detailed scripts and scenarios for simulator training preferred.
Solid classroom delivery skills with the ability to motivate and capture the attention of adult learners.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and E-Learning training.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to deliver training presentations conveying complex information clearly, concisely and effectively to audiences of varying knowledge level and size.
