Tool and Die Repair/Maintenance - 1st & 2nd Shift

We are seeking an experienced Tool and Die Repair associate to maintain progressive dies and help expand our Global Manufacturing Company while helping you establish your career goals.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Tool & Die Repair & Maintenance position are:

Plan, evaluate, administer necessary repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of existing progressive dies and related tooling on a daily basis for a safe, clean, productive and economical operation that fully supports press production as well as enforcing company policies and practices.

Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, fit and assemble details to repair metal stamping progressing dies, cutting tools and gauges.

Dismantles dies, repairs / replaces damaged details or components, verifies that the repaired dies operate correctly. Rework of damaged components.

Recognize and repair tooling failures while doing preventive maintenance on the bench

Set up and operate tool room equipment including Mills, Lathes & Grinders to cut, bore, grind and shape parts to specific dimensions. File, grind, shim, and adjust parts for proper fit. Cut, Shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes using power and hand tools.

Record any maintenance issues to die protection program.

Order tool steel as needed and for safety stock.

Able to perform all essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation

Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, models, or specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models to plan sequence of operations for fabricating tools, dies or assemblies and build quality components within tolerances of one-thousandths of an inch

Work as a team with the Engineering, Tooling, and Production departments on all tooling issues. Capable of interacting with fellow team members in a professional manner.

Must be proficient in reading blueprints, using measurement tools to conform to specifications (mics, calipers, dial indications, gauge blocks, functional gauges) to verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts.

Must be proficient with standard tool room equipment/machinery (lathe, mill, surface grinder, drill press, etc.) as well as experience working with a variety of steels (hot and cold rolled, high strength, stainless, coated, etc.)

Follow company procedures for safety training.

Build, support and enhance our learning and development strategy in line with business needs and organizational growth and change. Implement and apply corporate tools effectively to support tool room department.

Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required.

Attends and participates in employee meeting as scheduled

Requirements

Must be experienced in die repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of progressive dies

Use of overhead crane

Operate lift truck

Excellent mechanical skills

Must have own tools related to position

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish in a timely manner when appropriate

Ability to implement good ideas proactively and problem-solve effectively

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

Work with close tolerances.

Full time position on site.

Education and Experience

Tool and Die Journeyman status, or minimum of 3 years’ experience working with metal stamping dies

Former experience working with progressive dies at a high-volume precision metal stamping plant

Experience in die repair, maintenance, troubleshooting progressive die production issues, preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, etc.

Knowledge of tooling materials and their characteristics
