Thrift Store Associate - Hardlines Pricing

Door of Hope has been serving the local community for more than 25 years. We are one of Loudoun County's best kept secrets, offering quality housewares and apparel at affordable prices.

We are looking for a friendly and energetic person to become an expert in hardlines pricing, ensuring that our retail store stays well stocked with quality merchandise. Your work will be essential in driving retail sales and enhancing customer satisfaction through effective product presentation.

No prior experience with pricing is needed. Just bring a willingness to learn, the ability to communicate effectively and a positive attitude. This is a back-of-house position, so no customer service is required. The hours are flexible, but 4 to 6 hour shifts three days a week works the best. Once a weekly schedule is established we like to stick to it.

Duties

- Research product pricing in order to establish a fair market value

- Determine suitability for eCommerce vs retail sales channels

- Package and label retail products with an eye toward effective merchandising

- Develop a familiarity with pricing strategies for generic/common items

- Develop an eye for identifying vintage/collectible items

- Perform basic repairs like replacing batteries, securing lamp shades, etc.

Requirements

- Proficiency with "desktop" web browsers, typing, data entry.

- Basic math skills for pricing and batching products correctly

- Time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently

- This is a drug free workplace

- Standard professional courtesies are expected of all employees.

- Candidate should be able to lift heavy packages and items on a regular basis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
