Description ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Manager to lead our Test Technician and Field Services teams with a unified, hands-on approach. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency by integrating testing and field service efforts. By focusing on robust pre-shipment testing, we aim to minimize field issues and enable the Field Services team to shift from reactive support to revenue-generating activities such as commissioning, upgrades, and customer training.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for operational excellence, and hands-on experience in manufacturing environments involving testing, commissioning, and field service. This is a critical role that ensures alignment between factory output and field performance while enhancing customer experience and lifetime value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a cross-functional team comprising the Field Services department and the Test Technician team.
- Establish an integrated approach between test and field services, ensuring issues are prevented at the factory level to reduce field failures.
- Oversee production test execution and schedules to ensure high-quality outputs that meet on-time delivery (OTD) commitments.
- Lead the execution of field service activities, including warranty work, commissioning, and proactive customer engagements to drive satisfaction and growth.
- Leverage field insights to improve test protocols, enabling a feedback loop that reduces repeat issues and enhances root cause effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., UL 508A, UL 891, UL 1008, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements).
- Mentor and train technicians to strengthen diagnostic skills, documentation accuracy, and overall accountability for quality.
- Position Field Services as a value-generating team, shifting focus toward customer training, system optimization, and up-sell opportunities.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Management, preferably in a testing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, root cause analysis.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality standards.
- Proficiency in quality tools and reporting (e.g., SPC, Pareto analysis, Fishbone diagrams).
- Must have an excellent sense of OTD urgency, cross-functional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification.
- Familiarity with ERP, QMS, and data analysis platforms.
