We are hiring a full-time, Technologist ADMS Modelling position working out of Edmonton, Alberta.

The Technologist, ADMS Modelling, is accountable for the ADMS geographical model’s data quality control and ensuring reliable, accurate data is promoted into ADMS for use by System Control Engineering and System Control end users. This role is required to assess changesets created by EO CIM integrations against project documentation, ensure proper ADMS model connectivity is maintained consistent with project scope, and maintain ADMS model accuracy with an innovative approach and attention to detail. The Technologist, ADMS Modelling is required to collaborate with stakeholders entering data in upstream GIS systems to resolve data entry issues, Inside SCADA to navigate complex integrations with SCADA configurations, and System Control & Engineering end users.
The Technologist, ADMS Modelling is accountable to Manager, System Control Engineering, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by Manager, System Control Engineering.
What you’d be responsible for
•Communication - Providing input to the System Control Engineering plans and directions, ensure an appropriate understanding of the EUI and System Control Engineering strategy throughout System Operations, and ensure on-going effective positioning and appropriate relationships between other positions in System Control Engineering, System Control, and the rest of EUI.
•Innovation – Continuously looking for enhancements or process modifications to address technical gaps or inadequacies in existing processes or applications and make recommendations for improvement.
•Data Quality Control QA/QC - Reviewing all designs and investigates and identifies all data inaccuracies prior to data being loaded into ADMS. Respond immediately to data maintenance or quality inquiries, investigating and resolving issues as they are discovered.
•Process Improvement - Identifies, designs, documents, and implements process improvements to achieve data quality assurance targets.
•Collaboration – Establishing relationships in System Control Engineering, Inside SCADA, System Control, ONS, and other stakeholders throughout the organization ensuring data requirements are meeting business need. Attends stakeholder department meetings as needed to stay aware of upcoming process or asset changes that could affect processes or data. Communicates findings to the Team Lead, ADMS Modelling.
•Applications – Responding to and actively participate in stakeholder application upgrades, such as ADMS to ensure seamless process updates for GIS and provide necessary information back to the GIS Team or IT to maintain or improve integrations. Respond immediately to application issues and report issues to Team Lead, ADMS Modelling.
•Communication – Communicating effectively, in a timely manner with the Team Lead, ADMS Modelling, IT GIS/CAD Support Team and the GIS Team to ensure comprehensive understanding of stakeholder processes, allowing for changes as business needs change. Provide recommendations on how to update processes.
•Technical Skill Maintenance - Continually developing application specific technical skills a GIS/ADMS/EO integration expert.
•Technical training – Working closely with the Team Lead, ADMS Modelling and other technologists on the team to deliver application technical training for the GIS team when process or application changes occur.
•Customer Service - Provides exceptional customer service to all departments and business units as required. Develop and report on regulatory, budgeting, and variance requirements to ensure compliance and financial oversight.
What’s required to be successful
•Diploma in Engineering, Design and Drafting, GIS, Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institute of technology.
•7-10 years of experience in an electrical utility.
•5+ years of experience updating circuit plans and UD schematics using operator feedback recorded in control logs.
•Extensive experience in drafting and computer aided drafting and/or GIS software.
•Knowledge of underground and aerial construction standards
•Knowledge of utility power system connectivity, operation, typical assets, and construction & design practices
•Knowledge of how different groups within EDTI utilize circuit plans and schematics.
•CET Designation preferred
