Who are we looking for?
GHD has an excellent opportunity for a Decommissioning and Demolition (D&D) Field Technician to join our growing D&D team, working on projects throughout the Great Lakes region and across North America. This is a great opportunity to work with our experienced D&D experts and to gain some new skills. All necessary training and equipment are provided!
The successful candidate for this role will collaborate as an integral team member on various projects, focusing on D&D for clients in multiple sectors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects and to work within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
•Oversee contractors during the decommissioning and demolition of manufacturing and commercial facilities, including asbestos abatement and PCB, mercury, and other hazardous materials remediation.
•Conduct building materials sampling, including asbestos materials, painted surfaces, structural components, concrete, oils/lubricants, and more.
•Provide environmental support services during decommissioning and demolition projects, such as air/dust monitoring, mercury monitoring, and health and safety oversight.
•Compile, analyze, and visualize data.
•Support the preparation of technical reports for submission to clients.
•Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans.

•Achieve a utilization goal of over 80%.
What you will bring to the team:
•Preferred associate’s degree in environmental science, or comparable degree program although not required.
•0 ‐ 4 years of experience
•Ability to perform physical demanding work with the ability to lift 50lbs.
•A valid driver’s license and acceptable violation history
•Willingness to travel as necessary across North America – up to 60% overnight travel
•Able and willing to travel overnight and perform field work, travel expenses covered
•Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
As a D&D Technician your skills may include the following:
•Preferred experience with construction and demolition sites with an understanding of inherent safety concerns
•Preferred experience in a manufacturing setting with an understanding of applicable regulatory and safety requirements
•A general understanding of TSCA and RCRA Federal Regulations
•Current OSHA 40 ‐ hour HAZWOPER is a plus
•Current OSHA 30-hour Training for Construction and General Industry is a plus
