Job Description

This position will be responsible for creating professional, technical, and analytical documentation to support business unit or enterprise-wide Company projects and programs. Duties include documenting business needs, understanding current-state environments, and supporting initiatives across departments. Incumbent will prepare clear, concise, and professional materials with input from various business units within the utility (engineering, operations, project management, and business support functions) for use with external agencies and internal partners. This requires distilling complex technical and business concepts into easily translatable content, including technical reports, business case documents, regulatory testimony and filings, and other planning documents.

Responsibilities

- Researches, writes, and edits state regulatory reports, direct testimony, business case documents, and manages data requests for internal and external stakeholders.

- Stays up-to-date on energy and renewable markets, trends, regulatory agencies, and relevant legislation. Participates in company advisory groups and provides regulatory information to internal stakeholders in a timely manner to support management decision making.

- Collaborates with engineers, product and program managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand documentation requirements.

- Creates and maintains documentation templates and standards ensuring all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and adheres to company style guidelines.

- Edits technical reports, for grammatical accuracy, consistent voice, organization, and formatting.

- Combines, translates, and organizes complex information into material for communication to broad audiences; identifies meaningful patterns, categories, trends, and insights; and can distill the information into content that is accessible and useful, tailored to the applicable audience.

- Provides excellent customer service by developing and maintaining relationships at all levels of the organization and responding to requests for information timely and accurately.

- Ensures compliance with certain monthly, quarterly, or annual filing/reporting requirements.

- Researches, writes, and prepares program plans and requests for proposals.

- Leads projects or project phases within a broader initiative, is accountable for ongoing program activities or objectives; communicates project updates to internal stakeholders.


Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or related field

- 5+ years of relevant experience in writing or related field (sample work may be requested) - 3+ years of relevant experience in a utility, energy, or regulatory field

- Technical Writing Certification(s) Preferred

- Knowledge of subject area fields such as regulatory agencies, compliance, and utility functions

- Advanced organizational skills to effectively plan, manage, and execute on multiple priorities with deadlines

- Advanced analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written) to comprehend, interpret, and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures

- Ability to successfully develop and manage relationships at all levels of the organization and influence a variety of stakeholders

- Proficiency in creating clear, concise, and well-structured technical documentation, including technical reports, user manuals, product specifications, and process guides. Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for various audiences

- Ability to use appropriate technology to organize, synthesize, and communicate data

Hiring Range: $84,939 to $110,421

Other Combinations Of Education And Experience May Be Considered. Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
