Overview:
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of Archrock’s compressor units. It provides direct technical support to operations leadership by conducting condition audits, investigating major, repetitive and higher risk equipment issues, failures and safety incidents, and driving continuous improvement in maintenance and service quality. This role is responsible for working with field operations and customers in troubleshooting and resolving acute and chronic equipment performance issues. Additionally, it will contribute to developing, updating, and creating accountability to operational and maintenance standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:•Works with field operations and customers in troubleshooting acute and chronic equipment performance issues.
•Leads and executes incident investigation and conducts root cause failure analysis of major, repetitive and higher risk equipment failures in an operating environment.
•Researches and identifies whether issues are chronic across the organization. Collaborates with other functions in the organization as well as outside entities (e.g. OEM) to develop, recommend and provide appropriate, cost-effective solutions which may include analysis of failures, parts usage, etc. to determine whether there is a correlation between equipment, gas concentration, geography, etc.
•Investigate major, repetitive and higher risk equipment failures and fires, working with field personnel to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
•May participate in the technical review team which addresses suggested solutions, engineering or other technical advice to determine how we shape equipment maintenance standards in the company.
•Identifies gaps and recommends updates to maintenance standards and processes.
•Researches, develops and writes technical tips, bulletins, and alerts and reviews similar documents developed by others. Stays on top of all OEM technical service bulletins of reported issues.
•Coach and mentor Service Managers and FSTs on best practices for equipment reliability, quality assurance, and process adherence.
•Conduct regular site visits to perform unit condition audits, observe field operations, identify performance gaps, and collaborate with BU leaders to develop and execute improvement plans.
•Provide recommendations to Business Unit leaders on optimal candidates for improved performance through improved maintenance quality or defining a plan to improve poor performing units that are a result of mechanical or customer issues.
•Reviewing of fluid sampling, identifying trends and severity 4 samples to ensure regulatory compliance and timely repairs, by working directly with Business Unit leaders for action to correct and solve issues.
•Organize and facilitate regular training sessions, toolbox talks, and operational meetings to reinforce safety, quality, and maintenance best practices.
•Provides knowledge, advice and input to training material development.

Proficient With
•Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, PowerBI etc.) and PC Skills.
•Archrock Field Mobile (AFM).
•Enbase Telematics Suite.
Knowledge
•Recognized as Subject Matter Expert in Compression with explicit knowledge and skill across most package types (Waukesha, Caterpillar 3500/3600/ULB and controls).
•Working knowledge and understanding of Company business units and products.
•Advanced knowledge and understanding of production processes and equipment.
•Working knowledge of vibration, pulsation and engine performance studies.
•Advanced electro-mechanical knowledge of systems, components, parts and function of different engine and compressors (CAT, Waukesha, Dresser, Ariel, Ajax, etc).
•Solid knowledge of instrumentation and electronic systems and their interaction with other components and systems around compression and production equipment.
•Knowledge of known industry, regulatory, and company standards related to compression, production and process equipment.
•Solid knowledge of general industry and company HSE standards.
•Knowledge of failure analysis techniques.
Minimum Education And Certification
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Valid driver's license and good driving record and ability to drive a light truck for an extended number of hours a day, several times per week.
•Waukesha GET and ESM certified, or CAT commission certified, maintained annually as required by OEM preferred.
•Training in Root Cause Analysis, Failure Analysis, Incident Investigation.
Minimum Experience
•Typically, at least 8 years Field Operational experience.
•Broad experience working with engines Caterpillar 3400, 3500, 3600 series, White Superior, Waukesha, Ajax, others.
•Some experience addressing and remedying vibration and pulsation issues.
•Successful track record of troubleshooting and resolving major equipment issues and failures.

•Serves as a resource to others for knowledge transfer, training and checking work.
•May lead projects to identify and implement solutions to mechanical, operational, or procedural problems.

•Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
•Regularly required to sit, use PC and talk or hear.
•Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
•Frequent travel to field and shop locations. Occasional exposure to weather conditions.
•Must be able to climb, walk on catwalks at heights, enter confined space, and wear appropriate PPE which may include respiratory equipment.
•Occasional lifting up to 40 – 50 pounds may be required.
