Join us at the Alectra GRE&T Centre as a Technical Manager, Advanced Planning, where you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and deploying innovative solutions to enhance Alectra’s distribution grid and expand energy choices for our customers. Under the direction of the Head of Advanced Planning, you will contribute to Alectra’s strategy for grid modernization, driving value for both customers and shareholders.
What You’ll Do Technical Leadership and Development:
- Provide technical training and support the professional development of the Advanced Planning technical team.
- Direct the evaluation of emerging smart grid technologies and their integration into the distribution grid.
- Develop pilot and demonstration projects in collaboration with project leads and business unit experts.
- Manage the technical aspects of strategic and innovative technology demonstration projects.
- Participate in setting strategic direction for Alectra’s AI roadmap.
- Contribute to the creation of Alectra standards for IT/OT, DERMS, VPP, and ADMS integration.
- Lead the technical side of creating RFPs and writing proposals for funding opportunities.
- Provide advisory support to external organizations on R&D portfolio development and technology transfer.
- Manage relationships with technology providers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Advanced Planning technical team.
- Represent Alectra at industry events, conferences, and customer visits.

Who You Are Education & Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer Certification is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of distribution management systems (SCADA, ADMS, DERMS, VPP) and emerging smart grid technologies.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel and Visio.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in energy or utilities.
- Experience leading teams and projects.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to quickly understand and apply new technologies.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Results-oriented with a focus on strategic technical operations.
- Energetic team player contributing to organizational success.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license required.
- Hybrid: This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work to support team collaboration and business needs.
- Work in an environment with minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions.
- Regular travel to Alectra offices and project sites, with expenses reimbursed as per company policy
