The Manager is the primary contact for Electrical Steel customers for technical problems, issues and questions involving current and on-going production. The Manager is responsible for the tracking and management of ArcelorMittal's quality performance at the Electrical Steel customer accounts.
This position is responsible for supervising Technical Service Engineer's activities and customer plant performance for consumers of electrical steel in Canada, USA, and Mexico. The Manager is responsible for managing the overall relationship with the customer’s Supplier Quality personnel. The Manager coordinates the efforts of all ArcelorMittal functional groups to resolve technical issues or problems at customer accounts as they are encountered. This position is authorized to allow claims for material and specific consequential claims (within defined limits).
- The person in this position will routinely interact with Sales, Customer Service, Plant Quality Assurance, and Research.
- The Manager must assume an overall view of ArcelorMittal’s performance and problems at customer accounts and take action to address any problems that are encountered in the business relationship.
- The Manager is responsible for maintaining compliance to corrective action requirements for customers.
- The Manager is responsible for tracking and reporting monthly performance metrics for customer accounts.
- The Manager is responsible for managing changes to process routing for existing parts including any communication requirements with the customer, sales, customer service and technical service engineers.
- The Manager may be required to conduct eGEDP's for specific employees as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
- Demonstrated ability to work with computer databases, web-based applications, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
- Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering.
- Prior experience with steel products and processes
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Light Flat Rolled steel products
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a team environment with shared responsibilities and resources.
- Motivated, self-starter who can execute project plans with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn complex steel process and product details for NOES (non-oriented electrical steels)
- Some knowledge of steel products or processes
- Experience working with customers in a Sales or technical role.
- Knowledge of customer and/or agency specifications
- Knowledge or prior experience with electrical steel products
- Knowledge of blanking and other types of steel processing (slitting)
- Some background in a Quality function
