Description Job Summary We're seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to lead the evaluation, documentation, and implementation of complex accounting policies and new standards. This role will serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP, SOX and IFRS. This role will support the Controller and CFO in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial reporting, particularly in areas unique to the solar industry. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
+ Lead technical assessments of revenue contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), test energy sales, and milestone-based arrangements. + Partner with FP&A and commercial teams to ensure accurate revenue forecasting and recognition. + Monitor evolving guidance and update internal policies accordingly.
+ Evaluate and document accounting treatment for new and modified debt instruments, including fair value through OCI and amortized cost classifications. + Assess derecognition criteria and expected credit loss models. + Collaborate with Treasury and Legal on structuring and compliance.
+ Provide technical guidance on the accounting for tax equity investments, including partnership flips, inverted leases, and sale-leasebacks. + Coordinate with Tax and Legal to align book and tax treatments. + Partner with project finance, legal, and operations to assess accounting implications of new business models. + Support SOX controls and documentation for tax equity-related transactions.
+ Oversee lease classification and measurement for both lessee and lessor arrangements. + Ensure completeness and accuracy of lease data in the lease accounting system. + Support quarterly disclosures and audit requests.
+ Define capitalization criteria for development, construction, and major maintenance projects. + Review project costs for compliance with IFRS and internal policy (e.g., inspections, feasibility studies, and regulatory assets). + Partner with Operations and Engineering to ensure proper cost tracking and reporting.
+ Conduct regular SOX testing and ensure timely remediation of deficiencies. + Oversee the annual review of capitalized costs and enhance evidence of review. + Draft and maintain technical accounting memos to support audit and compliance requirements. + Coordinate with external auditors and internal teams to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
