Key Business Objectives
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for operationally driven project work, large fleet unit startups including Caterpillar 3600 packages, telemetry-installation, analysis and implementation, failure analysis, high-end troubleshooting of the company’s fleet of natural gas compressors. This position provides support to the Operations team to enable them to better serve our customers. With minimal supervision, this position will maintain customer relationships both internally and externally. All USA Compression employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
• Assist with high-end troubleshooting and complex repairs of natural size gas compression equipment to minimize downtime
• Accurately gather and prepare data for reports critical to equipment health including oil sampling, analysis, and reporting back to Operations
• Analyze repetitive occurrences on failures and downtime and provide technical solutions in order to reduce costs
• Engage in project work for company and customers in team-oriented environment.
• Analyze vibration/pulsation instances and provide technical solutions to remedy the issues
• Conduct investigations by given due date in the case of “root cause” failure of compression equipment
• Manage the installation, conversion, and platform for the company’s compression package telemetry systems
• Act as a subject matter expert for internal and external customers
• Write technical reports and articles for inter-company publications
• Assist in the writing of company technical, maintenance, and training standards
• Coach, mentor, and contribute to on-the-job training and development for field service technicians
• Provide expertise and assistance to field service technicians in operation of compression equipment
• Collect site-specific operational data for preparation and submission of emissions test reports
• Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Skills/Capabilities And Education
• Bachelor’s degree preferable, technical, or trade school certification, or 8 years minimum experience in related field
• Minimum 8-10 years work experience in the oil and gas industry. Preferably direct experience in related field.
• Understand industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, EPA, etc.)
• Strong computer skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite in addition to OEM sizing and performance programs
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.
• Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.
Working Conditions
• Ability to perform in a high stress environment
• Travel is required up to 80% of the time worked
• Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 pounds
• Ability to spend most of the time sitting or standing in a comfortable position with ample opportunity to move about
• Ability to read and interpret data as well as having the capacity to professionally and effectively communicate (verbally and written) with both company and outside personnel
• Exposure to noise levels in excess of 85dBA, potentially hazardous chemicals and materials, and extreme weather conditions
• Working conditions in natural compression vary from one job site to another. Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside, exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The work environment may be in hazardous locations.
