The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $144,631 to $180,789
Tax Manager will assist the Non-Income Tax Director with process enhancement initiatives, planning, risk mitigation and effective administration of Avangrid’s taxes other than income (TOI). This individual will also provide strategic support to TOI recovery efforts by supplying executives and others with tax contribution and other requested data. This person will liaise with Indirect Tax Managers to identify and prioritize automation and process enhancements; thereby enhancing team efficiency and oversight effectiveness.
The successful candidate has multistate tax, multi-tax type technical expertise, an innovative mindset and a robust understanding of business processes and systems, that together will be used to modernize our tax administration processes. This individual will develop and strengthen key stakeholder partnerships across the organization. This person will also lead and support teams assigned to initiatives, mentor, coach and drive the implementation of tools and process enhancements designed to positively impact how the team is able to deliver for business operations across the United States.
A key role feature is assisting the Non-Income Tax Director with data administration and reporting improvement initiatives as well as making our planning capabilities more robust and accurate. This individual will establish solid working relationships in key areas across our businesses and apply knowledge acquired to various non-income tax administration process enhancement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an experienced problem solver with excellent communication and leadership skills who can effectively multitask and prioritize competing projects and deadlines.
- Identify, prioritize and recommend projects to the Non-Income Tax Director to ensure projects are authorized and aligned with team goals and are adequately resourced.
- Develop and manage project scope, milestone achievement and timelines for approved initiatives and oversee longer term planning and resourcing needs for future projects.
- Liaise with cross function teams across the Global Business to facilitate operational enhancement initiatives.
- Challenge tax team to timely achieve business objectives and leverage emerging technologies. Coordinate with Indirect Tax Managers to ensure that tax technical knowledge and practices are well documented and organized across all business areas.
- Oversee team execution of various departmental data gathering, analysis, and reporting obligations including Iberdrola reporting and execution of SOX controls.
- Inspire a performance culture via by holding self and others accountable for delivering results, supporting growth, and encouraging innovation through team project development.
- Work with Team leaders to develop or enhance processes to ensure best practices are established and that effective training tools and procedure documents are created to develop and retain knowledge and functional capacity through staffing turnover.
- BS/BA Degree and at least 10 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior indirect tax and successful project management experience.
- Ability to articulate complex tax concepts to a variety of audiences and at all levels of organization
- Successful people leader capable of using business knowledge and concerns to foster successful team application to growth and process improvement.
- Experience cultivating strong relationships with internal and external partners to foster collaboration.
- Significant GAAP accounting experience. IFRS experience a plus.
- Forward looking, with a holistic approach and a track record of innovation and problem solving.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a demanding, rapidly changing business environment.
- Alteryx and/or other ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) data management tools.
- Advanced degree, CMI or equivalent experience.
- SAP (including S4/HANA). System upgrade or migration support experience.
- Machine learning and AI for digital transformation of tax data analysis. Property Tax database implementation and administration.
