Position Summary
The Systems Administrator 2 – Linux performs day-to-day administration of mission-critical, multi-platform datacenter environments for a 24x7x365 utility business, including but not limited to primarily Linux server operating systems, authentication, virtualization, server hardware, datacenter infrastructure, security, storage, backup and recovery, application installation and troubleshooting. Duties will include some Windows server administration. The administrator contributes to departmental, and enterprise projects and participates in a rotating, after-hours on-call schedule.
Primary Position Responsibilities
•Primarily performs Linux server administration, configuration, and troubleshooting in addition to performing some Windows server administration.
•Builds, deploys, configures, and troubleshoots both physical and virtual servers.
•Configures, troubleshoots, and administers Active Directory user and security group administration, SSL and SSH certificate management, DHCP, DNS, PAM, etc.
•Administers virtual hypervisor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity.
•Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity, performance and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
•Administers enterprise backup system to ensure server data is backed up successfully and is recoverable.
•Manages the security of server infrastructure including firmware updates, server patching, identity access management, and permissions.
•Administers data center infrastructure technologies to ensure systems availability, security, performance, and resilience.
•Provides IT infrastructure support to the business by responding to incidents and requests submitted through the ticketing system.
•Must be available to respond via personal smart phone during working and non-working hours. Smart phones will be registered with the CoServ Mobile Data Management system.
•Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
•Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
•Performs some Windows server Administration tasks.
•Produces and maintains documentation, including configuration data, change requests, installation procedures, diagrams, and test plans.
•Enhances efficiency through automation and scripting.
•Participates in departmental and enterprise projects, assists in producing quality thorough project plans, adheres to project plans and recommends plan changes as needed.
•Attends CoServ University training as required.
•Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Position Requirements
Education, Experience, and Certifications Required
•High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
•3+ years of experience in server and data center technology administration.
•Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9.
•Experience with Active Directory.
•Experience with enterprise OS server patching.
•Experience with virtualization hypervisor administration.
•Experience with server hardware administration.
•Experience with scripting and process automation.
•Experience with enterprise data backup systems.
•Experience with physical server administration.
•Familiarity with TCP/IP fundamentals.
Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred
•Experience in SUSE Linux 15.
•Experience with SELinux and Linux SCAP.
•Experience with Windows Server operating systems preferred but not required.
•Experience with SAN administration.
•Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
•Experience with anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard security techniques and practices.
•Experience with datacenter computing administration.
•Experience with identity and privileged access management.

•Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
•Must have reliable home high-speed Internet service for situations where remote work is necessary.
•Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule with the team to provide after-hours support as needed.
