About The PositionSystem Protection Engineer is responsible for designing protection and control systems; determining protective relay and surge protection requirements; and determining the specification of relay settings for energy centers, transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution systems.Key responsibilities include:* Analyze system outages for proper relay and breaker performance. Initiate investigation of questionable protective system performance.
Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required, Power Option preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or active commitment to obtain it is required. Applicants with Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) certification are preferred. Experience with symmetrical components and protection devices or related experience is preferred. Familiarity with Ameren Missouri or Ameren Illinois transmission and/or distribution systems and schematic control diagrams is preferred.* Technical Career Path Level depends upon applicant's credentials.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proficiency in use of computers with strong academic background in power systems coursework is required. Must have excellent analytical, communication, and human relations skills, and be effective working in project-based team settings. Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects and prioritize is required.Additional Information

Compensation Range:
$69,300.00 - $168,000.00* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
