About The Job
The Open Pit Surveyor is responsible for providing a high-level of accurate surveying and sampling to the Mining Group as part of the open pit mining operation as well as performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
•Taking field measurements using GPS survey equipment and bringing information back to the office computer
•Staking engineering designs from the office computer to the field using GPS survey equipment
•Report to the Mine Engineers
•Communicate changes to and status of survey work to Mine Engineers and Supervisors of the Mine and Process Departments
•Layout Drill Pattern using GPS Survey Equipment
•Layout Ore Control using GPS Survey Equipment
•Retrieve blast hole samples from Drill patterns
•Develop Mine and Leach Pad Progress Maps used by the Engineering and Operations Departments
•Survey Highwall Prisms using a Total Station
•Ability to recognize safety hazards, develop solutions, then follow up to make sure hazards are addressed
•Follow Company and Governmental Safety and Environmental regulations
•Maintain a clean work environment
•Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills
•High school diploma or GED
•2+ Years Experience in Mining, preferably at an Open Pit Operation
•Must be able to work carefully, with great attention to detail
•Must be able to communicate well with others, even others outside of department
•Must be able to traverse very rough ground
•Must be able to work efficiently in variable weather conditions
•Must be able to work alone, and with minimal supervision
•Must be able to walk for entire 10-hour shifts
•Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends
•Must be able to read a map
•Computer knowledge and experience preferred
•Draft work/CAD Experience preferred
•Construction surveying experience preferred
•Previous Mine Survey experience preferred
•Experience Using AutoCAD preferred
Additional Information
•Hourly Rate Range: $26.53-$37.57 (DOE)
•Rotating Shifts: 5 On, 4 Off / 4 on, 5 off
•Quarterly bonus up to $4,100 (up to $16,400 annually)
