Job Summary
C.E. Barker, Ltd. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Party Chief to lead and oversee field survey crews engaged in civil surveying tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, directing, and completing precise measurements of locations, elevations, lines, and areas, which are essential for producing accurate survey deliverables.
Key Working Relationships
•Internal: Collaboration with fellow employees, supervisors, managers, and corporate leadership.
•External: Interaction with clients, consultants, vendors, and various governmental and regulatory agencies.
Primary Responsibilities

•Coordinate manpower and resources to ensure survey tasks are completed efficiently.
•Supervise day-to-day field crew operations including task assignments, use of equipment, and data collection.
•Ensure all field work meets company and industry standards for accuracy and professionalism.
•Promote and enforce safety practices and ensure crew members wear required protective equipment.
•Maintain daily communication with the Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
•Perform daily downloads of electronic data collectors.
•Complete and submit daily reports including time sheets, data logs, and expense reports.
•Mentor and assist Rod Person/Instrument Technician in executing field tasks.
•Operate company vehicles to and from job sites as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications

•Familiarity with Trimble Business Center and geodetic calculations

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
•Walk over uneven terrain and hike slopes with up to 50 lbs of gear
•Lift, carry, squat, dig, and use tools such as rebar drivers and brush cutters
•Operate off-road vehicles (ATVs, snowmobiles)
•Sit or stand for extended periods, including computer work
•See and interpret visual data (depth perception, color, distance)
Mental Requirements
This role involves:
•Working in team environments and handling frequent task changes
•Managing time pressures and irregular schedules as needed
•Solving problems, multitasking, and working in distracting environments
Work Schedule
The standard office hours at C.E. Barker, Ltd. are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though actual hours may vary by project and location.
