Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Plans, coordinates, directs and supervises craft personnel engaged in the locating of company transmission and distribution underground electric facilities exterior to company electric substations and service stations. Supervises resources in a manner that ensures the safe, efficient, economical, and timely completion of work with high regard for customer satisfaction and adherence to applicable one-call law/policies/procedures to accomplish desired results. Promotes safety principles and assists in the training and development of the craft workforce. Ensures the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Maintains an environment that promotes safety, environmental compliance, diversity, innovation and high productivity. Ensures compliance with the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Plan, coordinate, and direct craft employees engaged in the execution of scheduled and emergent locating activities to assure the highest levels of customer service and to achieve safety, productivity and timeliness of locates in accordance with applicable law/policies/procedures
•Provide leadership to and development of the craft workforce. Ensure that employees are familiar with and have been trained to perform and comply with any relevant federal/state codes, standards, regulations, and best practices as well as safety, proper use of PPE, locate theory, facility locating communications, proper documentation, one-call laws and operations, decision making, and coping with job stresses.
•Promote and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization. Coach and evaluate employee performance with timely recognition; conduct performance reviews, quality and safety observations to identify error trends and opportunities for growth and learning. Ensure all locating equipment and vehicles are maintained and operational.
•Report to the Claims and Damage Prevention organizations when aware of any "Dig-ins" to underground electric facilities. Participate in all incident reporting including investigation and completion of Commission reporting requirements. Identify unsafe operating conditions in the field and complete the report for notification of these conditions (Good Catch) including, but not limited to electrical contact hazards, damaged equipment, leaking transformers, or other environmental concerns.
•Executes labor strategies involving craft employees covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Coordinate emergency response to restore continuity of service to customers, requiring 24-hour on-call responsibilities and varied work schedules as required by business needs.
•Plan resource coverage and execute work activities directed at the achievement of business plans and business unit objectives while working within departmental budgets. Track monthly ticket volume and on-time ticket performance with historical trends; track department Human Performance events.

JOB SCOPE
Directs craft employees engaged in the locating of company transmission and distribution underground electric facilities exterior to company electric substations and service stations. These responsibilities include compliance with any relevant federal/state codes, standards, regulations, and best practices as well as safety, proper use of PPE, locate theory, facility locating communications, proper documentation, one-call laws and operations. Provides input into the planning, implementation and execution of the operations. Responsible for implementing labor strategies involving craft employees covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Determines manpower and equipment requirements necessary for scheduled and emergent work to ensure productivity and timeliness of locates in accordance with applicable law/policies/procedures. Must be able to maintain effective internal business controls. Train locators on appropriate locating methods. Conduct quality and safety observations, meetings, investigations, and employee performance reviews. Regular contact with leadership of Construction & Maintenance, Transmission & Substation, Claims, Damage Prevention, Project & Contract Management and local union stewards.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•4 years internal utility company experience or equivalent external experience
•2 years internal supervisory experience or receive acceptable rating on Supervisory Assessment
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
•Demonstrated knowledge of one-call laws and locating work practices
•Demonstrated knowledge of ComEd safety rules
•Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Extensive knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and related one-call laws, policies, procedures and processes
•Extensive experience in the execution and supervision of locating transmission and distribution underground electric facilities
•Underground Electric Utility Locating experience preferred

•Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors:USD $101,600.00/Yr. - USD $152,400.00/Yr.
