Job Summary
Provide supervision and coordination of Nuclear Site Facilites (previously NSS) activities, including: scaffolding, material handling, confined space protection, drop prevention and foreign material exclusion activities. The incumbent will be the owner of the scaffold program, will work with the fleet Maintenance CFAM to continually improve the program and update procedures and practices. The Supervisor of Nuclear Construction Support will work with nuclear station department coordinators about requests for scaffolding and will ensure scaffolds are built safely in accordance with the OSHA and industry guidelines and also in consideration of Operational Risk and specially designed scaffolds.
The incumbent will be responsible for identifying situations and scaffolds that are exceptional and will require special risk evaluation by the Operations staff or special design by engineers. The incumbent will be responsible for approval of normal and exceptional scaffolds that support safe maintenance and inspection activities. The incumbent will need to develop a program to track all scaffolds that are built and remain for 90 days in order to be evaluated as to their impact on the licensed plant design functions in accordance with CFR 50.59.
The incumbent will be the leader of a group of Dominion Energy scaffold builders and may lead a large number of supplemental scaffold builders for periods of high activity like refueling and maintenance outages. The incumbent will ensure the scaffold group follows all requirements for working in the nuclear power station, particularly: the fall protection program, drop prevention program, material handling program, the confined space program, and the foreign material exclusion program.
The incumbent will need to meet all standards for working in the nuclear power industry and being a leader at a nuclear power station. They will be required to meet Fitness for Duty and Behavioral Observation requirements and lead their group in meeting those requirements. The incumbent will fill a role in the station’s Emergency Response Organization and complete the training and emergency drills required for that.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- 5 years’ experience (with preferred Bachelor's degree) working in the nuclear industry (or other highly regulated industry) in a supervisor, coordinator or overseer role of work (construction/scaffolding) that was subject to rigorous requirements and standards;
- In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute related Associate's degree and 7+ years of directly related experience (as described above) or High School diploma/GED and 9+ years of directly related experience (as described above);- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Good organizational skills;
- Computer proficiency. Must be proficient with the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel and Maximo;
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet deadlines; apply good business judgment, understand and respond to customer needs.
