As a key member of a cross-functional global team, you’ll collaborate closely with experts and suppliers to influence critical raw material decisions that drive Siemens Energy’s success! Your day will involve engaging with suppliers and a global commodity manager to assess and enhance their capacity, capability, and cost-effectiveness—ensuring alignment with our high standards. Apply your expertise in metallurgy of various materials to assist suppliers in addressing manufacturing challenges, fixing, and maintaining quality.
- Act as the quality partner for the Raw Materials Global Commodity Manager, developing procurement strategies and driving standards for new material-related technology.
- Improve SE global supply quality network's understanding of steel making and raw material by guiding Supply Quality Engineers.
- Coordinating multi-functional teams for Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) on raw material commodity parts, leading all aspects of project breakthroughs and resources.
- Provide suppliers with primary technical advice on melting and metallurgical processes for various materials, ensuring alignment with standard processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies in melting processes and materials science to drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science or in a related field, or equivalent experience. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- At least 8+ years’ professional experience in melting processes and metallurgy, specifically with steels, aluminum, titanium, and high-alloyed materials.- Deep understanding of melting techniques (e.g., vacuum melting, induction melting, arc melting, etc.), solidification processes, and material properties.
- Knowledge of advanced melting technologies, such as electron beam melting (EBM) or plasma melting, and emerging technologies in the field of metallurgy.
- Familiarity with advanced alloys, including nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, aluminum, and stainless steels used in the fabrication of Power Generation Products.
- Experience leading people, projects and managing virtual multi-functional teams in an international environment. You are a self-starter, determined, and self-reliant. Your organizational, strategic, analytical thinking, leadership skills, and intercultural expertise complete your profile!
