Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Owns the command and control of planned and unplanned events on the electric distribution grid while leading a diverse team of system operators responsible for the monitoring and execution of outage response management who directs field resources (outage, emergency first responders) involved in work activities on the distribution grid. Travel to all DCC’s in the territory will be required, on an as-needed basis.

This position is rotating shift work with a shift-based 8/12 hour schedule covering weekends and nights.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (California) $137,000.00

Mid Base Salary (California) $184,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California) $232,000.00

Job Responsibilities

- Reviews the quality of unplanned outage work, and determines if work can be done with or without outages.

- Complies, validates, and reports measurements of outage management.

- Leads the team's day-to-day operations in support of the team and the supervisor.

- Schedules all work to minimize impact to end use customers and revenue.

- Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.

- Tracks and reports on status of equipment repairs for the critical operating equipment (COE) process.

- Ensures staff compliance with all site safety requirements and regulations.

- Collaborates with team or leaders to work on issues, projects or activities.

- Manages department budget.

Qualifications

Minimum:

- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma

- 3 years of job-related experience

Desired:

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

- Experience as System Operator, 2 years

- Leadership experience, union-represented employees

- Knowledge of safety policies, theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products - for example Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access - as needed to perform at the job level

- Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems concepts, methods, best practices, techniques, and regulatory requirements as needed to perform at the job level

- Competency in relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people

- Competency in interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions Competency in building strong customer relationships and delivering customer- centric solutions

- Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
