The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a

Supervisor, Services (Power Engineering – 3rd Class)

to join our team in the

Smelter Oxygen Plant Department

in Sudbury, Ontario.

This is a

permanent

position, working on a

Monday to Friday, 8-hour dayshifts

.

As a Supervisor, Services you will be accountable for continuously improving the work team (crew) performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures. The successful candidate will be accountable for supervising within the Smelter Department.

Additionally, in this position you will:

- Adhere to Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety and risk management.

- Foster open and transparent communication in all aspects of work to promote teamwork and collaboration.

- Collaborate effectively with peers and cross-functional teams in engineering, maintenance, and services to meet plant objectives.

- Assist the Plant Manager in developing and managing the cost and capital expenditure budget.

- Lead the implementation of new management systems to enhance operational efficiency.

- Identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement, participating in teams to execute initiatives.

- Utilize data collection systems to analyze process variability and drive organizational changes.

- Ensure compliance with the Power Engineers Act and manage divisional month-end billing statements, facilitating access to Utilities billing data.

About You

Education:

- Minimum Third-Class Power Engineering certificate is required

Experience:

- Minimum 8 years of Power Engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing Power Engineers and maintenance personnel to ensure continuous service delivery.

- Proven project management skills, including planning, organizing, budgeting, and prioritizing construction initiatives within the area of responsibility.

- Expertise in operating boilers, compressors, and chillers.

- Competence in control room operations, monitoring complex processes and coordinating critical activities effectively.

Skills:

- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.

- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.

- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
