PURPOSE:
The Operations Supervisor - Hydrotreater & Utilities position is responsible for overseeing all operations and personnel at the Hydrotreater, Boilerhouse and Naphtha Rerun Unit.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Maintain and enforce a safe working environment in the plant and ensure all plant HSE policies are followed.
•Directly supervise unit operators at the Hydrotreater, Boilerhouse and Naphtha Rerun Unit.
•Assist in training of all unit operators, qualify operators for job and monitor their performance.
•Maintain a good attitude and work ethic as an example for other personnel.
•Maintain good labor relations and comply with established work practices and the current collective bargaining agreement as it pertains to unit operators.
•Maintain all files that pertain to unit operations per record retention procedure.
•Ensures operators maintain housekeeping standards.
•Communicate with appropriate personnel in the plant to facilitate production.
•Oversee Hydrotreater white oil, petrolatum and wax feedstocks.
•Planning and ordering of raw material railcars from the Butler Yard.
•Ensure all necessary operating supplies are available for continuous operation.
•Have ability to perform all operating tasks required at the Hydrotreater, Boilerhouse and Naphtha Rerun Unit.
•Participate in the Incident Command System, incident investigation and PSM activities such as, RFCs and HAZOPs.
•Monitor unit downtime and coordinate unit startups and shutdowns.
•Capable of performing the following tasks in SAP:
•Maintain accurate inventory levels in SAP for all tanks associated with the Hydrotreater, Boilerhouse and NRU.
•Approve maintenance work orders and collaborate with maintenance personnel to schedule and complete maintenance activities.
•Review and update operating procedures in Carmen System.
•Develop unit operator weekly shift schedules and reconcile time in the electronic payroll system.
•Review lab results and create batches in WinLims.
•Present Hydrotreater, Boilerhouse and NRU report in daily meeting.
•Select topics and facilitate monthly safety meetings with unit operators.
•Work with Process Engineers to monitor unit performance.
•Collaborate with Engineering to develop projects that will improve the safety and efficiency of unit operations.
•Support a 24 hour/day 7 day/week operation. This may require responding to phone calls and working additional hours needed to maintain a safe, environmentally sound operation.
•Provide additional daily supervisory coverage as needed.
•This position requires fit testing.
•Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
•High school diploma or GED
•5+ years’ operations experience
•Proven record of a safety-first culture
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
•Prior supervisory responsibility
•Supervising in a union environment
