Supervisor, Lines (East) (Non-Union)

The Supervisor, Lines is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing line resources in construction, maintenance, and trouble response. This role involves collaboration with internal departments, external agencies, and contractors to ensure the safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of services.
What you’ll do
Operational Management:•Plan, organize, schedule, assign, and coordinate activities of team members and contractors involved in the installation of overhead and underground distribution systems, service connections, and equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
•Ensure crews conduct quality job plans, identify hazards, and implement safety measures throughout utility operations, including proper operation and maintenance of line vehicles and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
•Provide leadership in safety, enforce rules and regulations, and conduct work observations and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards, whether covered by established procedures or not.
•Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Coordination and Communication:
•Assist in design processes to ensure proper resource allocation and support crews in design or process changes.
•Liaise with the control room for coordination of planned or unplanned outages and update planners to effectively communicate plans to the Control Room Operating Department.
Stakeholder Engagement:
•Maintain positive interactions with team members, customers, and external stakeholders to optimize operational effectiveness.
•Assist in project costing, manage expenditures, and provide instructions for customer invoicing.
Leadership and Development:
•Provide coaching, development, performance management, technical guidance, and advice to team members.
•Lead and/or participate in department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget.
Process Improvement:
•Research, recommend, and implement new or enhanced policies, procedures, and processes to improve operational effectiveness.

Other Duties:
•Provide on-call supervision and ensure effective administration of collective agreements.

Who you are
Education & Technical Knowledge
•Certified Journeyperson/Tradesperson required; C.E.T certification is an asset.
•Certification in the Utility Work Protection Code.
•Thorough understanding of electric utility standards, practices, and construction methods.
•Knowledge of health & safety management systems and policies.
•Advanced knowledge of distribution systems standards, specifications, line construction and maintenance, design review, development, and contractor management.
•Familiarity with regulatory and legislative environments including Standards Manuals, E&USA Rule Book, IHSA Safe Practice Guides, Utility Work Protection Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
•Proficiency in computing skills, including MS Office applications, GIS applications, and Enterprise applications.
Experience
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in overhead and underground distribution line construction and maintenance within an electric utility environment as a Journeyperson Power Line Technician/Line Maintainer.
•Approximately 5 years of demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
•Safe work record and strong safety orientation.
•Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.

•Strong teamwork skills with the ability to reprioritize work based on emerging customer or departmental needs.
•Must hold and maintain a valid class “AZ” driver’s license, in good standing.
Where you will work
•The role is performed primarily in the field, with occasional time spent in an office environment.
•Work may involve minor exposure to disagreeable conditions, including inclement weather, while supervising construction sites or maintenance activities.
