Plan, organize, and supervise the Division’s Occupational Safety and Health

Programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws and

regulations. Leads division-wide safety initiatives, conducts risk assessments,

coordinates safety training, and serves as the designated Safety Officer and

Safety Supervisor as required by state law. Promotes a proactive culture, drives

continuous improvement, and ensures the well-being of employees, contractors,

and the public. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Plan, develop, and oversee occupational

safety and health programs, including safety inspections, risk assessments, and

equipment maintenance. Serve as the Division Safety Officer and Safety

Supervisor as required by state regulations. Interpret and ensure compliance

with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations, and submit required reports

to regulatory agencies. Lead safety initiatives that reduce workplace hazards

and foster a culture of safety across all divisions. Collaborate with department

leaders and designated safety points of contact to align safety efforts with

organizational goals. Oversee the development and delivery of safety education

and training programs, including new employee orientation, job-specific safety

training, and contractor safety briefings. Conduct and review Job Hazard

Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify, document, and mitigate

hazards. Monitor MLGW’s safety performance using key indicators such as Total

Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR). Investigate

workplace incidents and near-misses; develop and implement corrective action

plans to prevent recurrence. Maintain thorough and organized documentation of

inspections, training sessions, audits, and corrective actions to support internal

evaluations and external audits. Partner with Safety Training Specialists to

analyze safety inspection findings, monitor compliance, and identify areas for

improvement. Lead safety awareness campaigns, workshops, and initiatives to

strengthen safety engagement across all levels of the organization. Engage

directly with frontline employees to address safety concerns, provide coaching,

and reinforce safe work practices. Ensure contractor compliance with MLGW safety standards through plan reviews, audits, and on-site evaluations. Perform

other duties as directed.

Qualifications

LICENSES AND

CERTIFICATIONS

A driver''''s license from the state of residence is required.

EDUCATION Associate’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Health,

Industrial Hygiene, or 5 years of related experience required with leadership

experience.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety-related or leadership role,

preferably within the utility, construction, or energy sectors. Demonstrated

experience in developing and managing safety programs. Experience in working

collaboratively with cross-departmental teams and contractors to implement

safety initiatives.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must complete the Supervisor Assessment Center within 90 days of hire. Must

complete NIMS training within 1 year of entering the position. Preferred

competencies include Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety

Professional (ASP) certifications. Desirable Certifications include NFPA 70E,

OSHA 30-Hour Certification, and familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean

methodologies. Works inside the majority of the time. Field visits to all Gas and

Water sites where work is being performed. This position requires the ability to

occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach to perform site safety inspections and

assessments. The role may involve lifting to 25 pounds, conducting fieldwork in

various environments, and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as

needed. Regular travel between MLGW locations is also required.
