The Summer Safety Intern will be responsible for assisting the Safety Department with Training, Safety Policy Enforcement, Work Zone Safety, and Fleet Safety. This person will also be responsible for managing the Driver Coaching Program to ensure FMCSA/DOT Compliance (Dash Cam Systems). In addition, this role assists with administrative upkeep of documentation for all company safety records (OSHA, Driver Qualification Files, FMCSA, etc.)

SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work can fluctuate, work week runs Monday through Friday and hours are 40-50 hours per week.
•40-50 Hours per week (8-10 hour days)
•1 night a week ride along field inspection
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities
•Ensure all safety policies and programs are being practiced
•Assist in the implementation of new safety policies and programs
•Assist in OSHA compliance at all SMC locations
•Assist in managing selection and purchase of all company PPE
•Review Safety documentation process
•Conduct Weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings
•Sit in on Daily 2 Minute Crew Meetings
•Assist with Dash Cam Coaching for SMC Drivers
•Conduct Daily Fleet inspections when Road Crews return to the shop
•Assist with accident investigations
•Transfer fleet resources to satellite offices as needed
•Attend all Safety Meetings
•Assisting in weekly job inspections to ensure everyone has all their safety documentation, PPE and are following all Work Zone Safety & Quality Protocols
•Administrative tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
+ Updating Driver Qualification Files
+ OSHA Reporting
+ DOT & Federal Motor Carrier reporting
+ Incident Investigation, Maintaining incident records, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Majoring in OR Course of Study in Safety related areas or Construction Management
•Clean Driving Record and Valid Driver’s License
•Excellent computer skills (Excel, Teams, Microsoft Office Suite)
•Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
•Self-starter/problem solver
•Excellent communication and people skills
