An Intern is a temporarily employed college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience.
Gas Work Methods/ Material Standards: Intern will become familiar with the Operation and Maintenance manuals and Material Standards used in the RIE system. This includes the document development thru the content control that we use to maintain the documents and learning the different parts, fittings and pipe used in the Natural Gas system and how it all works together in the field. This internship will introduce the person to many different parts of the business. The Compliance Programs is in the Engineering department and touches all aspects of the field operation of the gas system. It may change from day to day. The intern may perform site visits and attend meetings with team member as needed to support department needs. This position is ideal for someone with an inquisitive mind who is looking to work in the utility industry. It will allow the successful candidate to see many different departments and how they interact with each other, the importance of following up and completing the assigned tasks.
- Rising junior senior or grad student enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree in Engineering or Technical writing.
- GPA requirement: 2.5 or higher
- Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.
- Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Travel within the service territory may be required.
- Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
