Position Overview

This is an exempt entry level Substation Design Engineer position performing electrical engineering duties for the T&D Engineering Department of the Grand River Dam Authority as assigned by the Substation Engineering Manager.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports directly to the Substation Engineering Manager or designated supervisor.

SUPERVISED PERSONNEL:

Normally does not supervise any other positions. May assume specific temporary supervisory duties for certain project functions and/or training duties.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

+ Generates/interprets single line diagrams, communication diagrams, AC and DC schematics and wiring diagrams. + Coordinates the creation of scopes of work for engineering and construction contractors. + Develop data sheets and specifications for equipment. + Supports the bidding process for engineering and construction services. + Basic project management. + Develops positive communication and productive relationships with fellow employees, industry contacts and customers. + Performs engineering analysis, calculations, design, studies, and other duties associated with maintaining, constructing, and operating high voltage substation facilities. + Creates specifications; prepares bid documents; evaluates bids received; prepares and presents reports and recommendations as required for purchase of materials, equipment, services, and miscellaneous items associated with high voltage substations and other assigned projects.
