The Subcontract and Insurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring all subcontractor and project-related insurance requirements are met and maintained throughout the construction lifecycle. This role is a key part of the company’s risk management strategy—reviewing, tracking, and verifying insurance documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and protect the company from unnecessary risk exposure.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
•5+ years of experience in insurance compliance, risk management, or contract administration.
•Strong understanding of insurance terminology and types of coverage (GL, WC, Auto, Umbrella, Builders Risk, Professional Liability, etc.).
•Demonstrated attention to detail and precision in document review.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document tracking systems.
•Excellent organizational and time management skills.
•Ability to assess compliance, interpret complex documents, and identify risk-related gaps with accuracy.
•Skilled at listening, clarifying, and resolving escalated concerns in a timely and thoughtful manner.
•Confidence in negotiating insurance terms and advocating for risk-aware solutions.
•Competence in drafting clear, concise, and professional emails and reports.
•Ability to translate technical insurance language into understandable guidance for non-experts.
•Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working across teams including project management, legal, and risk.
Preferred Qualifications:
•5+ years of experience with a general contractor or broker.
•Experience working with project management platforms (e.g., Procore)
•Familiarity with OCIP/CCIP programs, surety bonds, or owner-issued insurance requirements.
•Knowledge of insurance auditing or claims processes.

Key Responsibilities:
•Review subcontractor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and related documents for accuracy and compliance with company and project-specific requirements.
•Identify non-compliant insurance coverages and escalate issues to project teams, legal, Risk Manager or Senior Director of Risk Management as appropriate.
•Maintain insurance records and tracking logs to monitor expirations, renewals, and outstanding documentation.
•Advise internal stakeholders on appropriate insurance coverage types and limits based on risk exposure and project needs.
•Review client insurance requirements and assist in obtaining and issuing company COIs that meet those specifications.
•Coordinate with project teams and subcontractors to resolve insurance-related issues and ensure timely submission of updated policies or endorsements.
•Interpret insurance terminology and policy language to ensure full understanding of coverage terms and limitations.
•Apply knowledge of construction scopes of work to assess potential risks and related insurance needs.
•$75k - $95k, based on experience
