Ampirical’s Substation Engineering Division is recognized nationwide for expertise in planning and designing new substations and high-voltage switchyards. Our team provides comprehensive design services and technical solutions tailored to client needs, backed by extensive resources and proven project experience.
- Design and develop substation site plans, grading, drainage, and foundation systems.
- Perform structural analysis of foundations, anchorage systems, and steel connections.
- Ensure designs are accurate, constructible, and aligned with industry codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE 113, CBC, IEEE, NESC, etc.).
- Review peer and subcontractor civil/structural work for quality and compliance.
- Support construction teams with design-related issues, visiting client sites as needed.
- Mentor and guide younger engineers, providing leadership and technical direction.
- Prepare drawing packages, assist with proposals, and participate in project scheduling and bid reviews.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Professional Engineering (PE) License (required)
- Experience in civil/structural design (utilities or energy high preferred)
- Proficiency with foundation and structural analysis/design software (e.g., Ipile, RISA)
- Experience with site drainage, grading, and surface/sub-surface drainage plans
- Strong understanding of civil/structural codes and standards
- Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams
