Overview
This position is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient ordering, receiving, storing, controlling, and issuing of materials used to support Transmission & Distribution operations departments consistent with established policies, procedures and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control environments. Under general supervision this position assists field customers value added support services according to their unique, local, business requirements.
- With assistance, performs ordering of materials through a variety of methods, Pro-card, e-Procurement, requisitioning, and standard purchase order based on forecasts and min/max levels at the assigned storerooms. Resolves any material ordering and/or delivery discrepancies with end users and/or suppliers to ensure the expected material and logistics services.
- Ensures accuracy of all receiving documents, i.e. Packing slips and bills of lading, to support data entry of receipt. Ensure proper receiving, receipting and storage of (stock and non-stock) material delivered to storeroom or job site.
- Assists in determining the optimum inventory level quantity (MIN/MAX) for all stock items, based on inventory management technique using usage, lead-time, and seasonality information to maintain optimum stock levels. Manages storeroom organization by locating similar and/or compatible materials together with consideration to volume and ergonomic positioning in bin-location. Assists in identification, analysis and recommendation of obsolete and over-max material and the proper disposition of the material from inventory consistent with Company policy.
- Performs inventory material physical counts as scheduled and in a timely and accurate manner to ensure a high degree of accuracy of the inventory; reconciles unmatched counts; submits counts to management for review and approval.
- Operates a forklift and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently to unload/load materials from freight carriers or other transport equipment.
- Coordinates material needs with team leads, engineering, line inspectors and other individuals in the Distribution and Transmission community to assure continuity of required material at designated locations. Coordinates procurement of emergency material with the internal proponents primarily from the Distribution and Transmission Department and vendors based on critical need. Contacts vendors and coordinates new material shipment schedule information based on required schedule dates.
- Operates the assigned storeroom in such a way as to maximize the turnover ratio for all stock material, i.e. reduce stocked quantities and scheduling delivery of material on an as needed basis.
- Coordinates and confirms transfers of materials to and from other storeroom locations as needed. Updates stocked materials based on engineering standards changes. Charges out materials in OFMS based on assigned project or work request numbers. Return unused materials to stock and credit project.
- Staffs affected storerooms and warehouses during storm restoration events consistent with established procedures. Ensures that flow of materials into the affected storeroom is consistent with operational requirements.
- Maintain organization and housekeeping of storeroom facility and yard. Purchase materials and equipment required for the efficient operation of the storeroom facility and yard. Maintain receipts and all proper documentations of purchases.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards- 2+ years of material handling experience.
- Must be self-directed with the ability to organize and plan well.
- Must be certified to operate specified equipment by company safety policy and procedures
