Description:* Responsible for wearing the proper mandatory safety gear in designated areas/situations.
•Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and OSHA guidelines.
•Must be trained and licensed at Major Metals Company as a lift truck driver.
•Must maintain raw coil material to each mill per inventory list from schedule
•Removes excess coil stock from all buildings as directed by supervisor
•Must perform tasks with minimal supervision
•Responsible to transport returned to stock coils from the mill back to inventory.
•Understands the end welders are required to stack RTS coils in a designated location and supply stream manager will handle the identification and labeling of RTS coils and mark with a green sticker to indicate for the transporter that the coil is set for return.
•Required to pick up coils ready for return from each mill and returned to inventory, daily.
•Required to leave coils in RTS bays without a green sticker alone until they have proper tagging, without exception.
•Operates transport truck safely and efficiently from building to building
•Required to average 300,000 to 400,000 lbs. or moved material each day to ensure proper supply to the mills.
•Must be able to respond with urgency and motivation on unexpected changes.
•Must recognize and abide by the maximum weight allowance of 35,000 lbs. on the transport truck.
•Responsible to tarp the load in the event there is questionable precipitation or potential precipitation to protect the steel.
•Required to unload inside the facility as often as possible, but is required during times of precipitation or with coils weighing over 9,000 lbs.
•Assures at any point the transport truck is backed into the dock and required airbrake and tire chucks are used to secure trucks
•Help on Banding Line as time allows
•Ensures safety of all employees in close proximity
•Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements: Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
•Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
•High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•This person is responsible for the safe and correct operation of the Lift Truck/Transport vehicle.
•Must be willing to work the production schedule with the understanding the occasional additional hours may need to be worked, sometimes with short notice.
•Must have a valid driver license.
•Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
•Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with federal, state and local standards.
