Description
The Staff Accountant will fill a key role within the Corporate Accounting team. The position will handle various aspects of accounting for the company and its related entities. As such he/she has the direct responsibility for reconciling general ledger accounts, proposing journal entries and update supporting schedules related to the Balance Sheet and Income Statement Financial Reports. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for ensuring compliance with internal control policies and procedures. This is full-time positions and require 5 days per week on site.
Job Duties
• Responsible to maintain accounting ledgers by reconciling and recommending journal entries in a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis to ensure correct account balances in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies and procedures. Reconciliations includes and are not limited to: cash accounts, prepaid, accruals, notes receivables and payables, fixed assets, clearing accounts, income and expense accounts.
• Accountable for recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation and amortization, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.
• Responsible to prepare prepaid and Real Estate Tax Accrual
• Responsible to record Notes payable Interest and principal payment
• Ensure reconciliations are completed based on the end of month calendar deadline.
• Responsible to maintain and update supporting roll forward schedules by the specified deadline.
• Participate in training to improve the knowledge on the accounting software or any industry/accounting specific topics.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Salary/Income: $55,000 - $65,000 Annually
Requirements
• Solid understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Work independently or as a team member taking ownership of assigned tasks
• Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment
• Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Effective organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
Computer Skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Word
• Able to use PMG software tools/database
Qualifications
Degree (preferred) or Diploma in accounting required; 1-2 years accounting experience required. Knowledge of the petroleum industry desired.
