JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Senior Tax Accountant performs a variety of tasks and duties which may include, but are not limited to the following:* Assists with the preparation of monthly and annual tax entries including Sales, Income and Property taxes. Also, assists with the preparation of tax returns and tax schedules.
•Prepares and enters Journal Entries as part of the month-end and year-end close process.
•Performs account reconciliations and review of General Ledger accounts.
•Assists in preparing Annual Arizona Corporation Commission Report by working with Operations and Engineering to obtain all necessary data.
•Assists the Rate Case Department with data requests.
•Assists the Controller with providing accounting information for the annual external audit.
•Assists the Controller with the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
•Assists with the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
•Assists with A/P as needed.
•Assists with Payroll as required.
•Performs other duties assigned by the Controller.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills, knowledge, and physical requirements include, but are not limited to the following:* Ability to effectively use a personal computer. Must be competent in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Great Plains and Doclink.
•Working knowledge of accounting applications and practices and ability to analyze business transactions.
•Ability to interact with supervisors, co-workers, and other employees in a cooperative and professional manner.
•Must be dependable, punctual, and have good attendance.
•Neat and presentable professional appearance.
•Ability to perform repetitive physical activities using feet, legs, hands, and arms, and be able to use keyboard, walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs, reach, grasp, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The following are required:* Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
•CPA certification or CPA candidate.
•Thorough understanding of tax laws and regulations.
•Experience in regulatory accounting and rate-making principles is desirable.
•Valid Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record.
