Job Summary
Murphy is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Supply Chain Specialist with expertise in operations procurement to join our team. This role will be reporting to the SCM Supervisor and will be responsible for executing the Drilling and Completions Procurement Plan, contributing to cost savings through negotiation strategies and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Additionally, the Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services supporting day-to-day drilling and completions activities. You will work closely with field personnel and management across various business units, Supply Chain, and operations-based suppliers to deliver value and achieve organizational goals.
The Supply Chain Specialist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
Responsible for sourcing major materials, equipment and services for Drilling and Completions
Execute daily sourcing activities such as developing Purchase Requisitions, issuing Purchase Orders and ongoing Purchase Order expediting
Assist in Request for Proposals/Quotations; conduct bid analysis, facilitate technical and commercial clarifications, and make award recommendations
Assist in delivering the current Drilling and Completions Procurement Plan by executing sourcing and contracting efforts
Manage the entire contract lifecycle, from negotiation and execution to ongoing monitoring and review
Track contractual obligations and provide summaries to business owners for accountability
Work with stakeholders to quantify usage and forecast future requirements
Lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors, developing and executing cost reduction and avoidance strategies
Develop and manage supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Identify impactful contractual relationships and track realized savings and potential opportunities
Collaborate with Contracts / Legal to ensure all contracts comply with internal and external regulations
Identify and assess emerging opportunities within the supply chain to maximize value
Proactively engage with key stakeholders to identify sourcing and contract value opportunities
Assess customer needs, provides procurement expertise to customers in the acquisition process
Assist in negotiations with Supplier / Contractors including developing and executing cost reduction and cost avoidance strategies and initiatives
Monitor, assess and adjust sourcing strategies based on supplier and market intelligence
Ensure current and continued compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures both internally and externally to the Institution
Independently plans actions to ensure customer requirements are achieved
Qualifications/Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 10 years of experience in operations procurement or contracting support
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficient in MS Office Suite and procurement software
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business administration or other technical degree
15 years or more relevant experience, preferably in operations, drilling and completions, or contracting support
Strong understanding of contract negotiation principles and best practices
Strong understanding of Drilling and Completions equipment and services
Proven ability to develop and execute cost-saving strategies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Strong SAP experience preferred
Strong Ariba experience preferred
Icertis experience preferred
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
