We're looking for a Solar System Design Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to help lead the design and engineering of solar + storage systems for commercial and industrial sites. - Conduct site walks and evaluate feasibility for PV + ESS projects
- Gather and analyze site data (electrical, structural, environmental)
- Lead detailed system designs: site plans, SLDs, conduit schedules, interconnection packages

for system modeling and performance estimates
- Ensure all designs meet NEC, CEC, UL, IEEE, and utility-specific standards
- Coordinate with project managers, utility reps, permitting bodies, and construction teams
- Support permitting, interconnection, and commissioning activities
- Set and refine internal CAD standards; oversee drafting workflows
- Drive continuous improvement of design templates and processes
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing solar PV and ESS systems- Proficient in
AutoCAD
,
PVSyst
, and developing one-line diagrams
- Familiar with DC/AC coupled systems and energy storage integration (Tesla, Fluence, PCS, etc.)
- Strong understanding of NEC 690/705/706, UL 1741-SA, IEEE 1547
- Knowledge of IOU interconnection processes (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, etc.)
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- EIT or NABCEP certification a plus
- 1+ year of team leadership or mentoring experience preferred
