Position Summary
A Switchgear Control Specialist is responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of switchgear control systems used in power distribution and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, control logic, and panel wiring. general maintenance on electric circuit breakers across a broad spectrum of manufacturers while following all safety rules and best practices. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
•Interpret and assist with the design of electrical schematics, transfer schemes, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
•Ability to wire neatly and efficiently.
•Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) of switchgear, instrument transformers, and other power distribution equipment.
•Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to switchgear operation and control systems.
•Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
•Maintain documentation and records for all control systems and test reports.
•Correctly produce or recondition components for Customer orders.
•Review instructions, drawings, manufacturing information, and hand drawn layout requests. Closely follow established procedures for completing jobs to ensure quality and accuracy of parts produced.
•Receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers in a timely manner.
•Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.
•Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals Keep assigned work-area clean, organized, and orderly.
•Demonstrate a continual effort to streamline work processes.
•Work with team members and/or department to effectively complete work assignment as assigned.
•Able to listen, retain, and execute directions as given by local leadership.
•Observe all company, state and federal safety policies and procedures; observe and follow all company (operational) policies and procedures.
•Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
•Mentor and/or coach Fab Tech I’s as assigned.
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
•5+ years of experience in switchgear control systems or power distribution.
•Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics using CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical).
•Experience with protective relays, PLCs, and SCADA systems. SEL knowledge is a plus.
•Experience wiring low/medium voltage switchgear and transfer schemes.
•Knowledge of arc flash mitigation techniques and safety practices.
•Familiarity with test equipment such as Insulation resistance, contact resistance, relay test sets, secondary injection testing.
•Strong understanding of power system protection, control logic, and interlocking schemes.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•High School diploma/GED and minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
•Mechanical aptitude with experience in overhauling and maintaining mechanical equipment such as motors, engines, or similar devices.
•Some knowledge of circuit breakers is associated with low voltage switchgear applications of up to 600v and medium voltage applications up to 15KV.
•Basic understanding of electrical power systems, ability to read electrical schematics or wiring diagrams and a good aptitude for problem evaluation.
•Complete projects consistently on time.
•Knowledge of various safety standards such as OSHA and any state safety standards.
•Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, OSHA, IEEE and NFPA.
•Proven mechanical skills and/or experience with different types of low and high voltage equipment (requirement varies on location).
•Able to effectively solve problems.
•Basic computer skills for data entry, looking up information, and/or creating reports.
•Able to communicate oral and written communication skills; follow directions-written direction, oral direction, reading work orders and/or specs as assigned; work in a team environment and communicate with team, various departments, and/or Customers as business needs dictate.
•Customer Focused-able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product
•For positions that utilize a company vehicle, you will be required to have a valid driver’s license
•Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays as needed.

Additional Information
Travel: 0-5%
Compensation: $25.46-$35.64
