In this role you would directly impact the company’s goal of growing the fossil generation business by leading projects to ensure success, including coordination with cross functional teams (Development, Environmental, Integrated Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal, Marketing, Operations, etc.) across the NextEra Energy organization. You would report to and update leadership within the Engineering and Construction Department and provide your input and expertise on a daily basis to subject matter experts as the project leader of a collaborative and dynamic team. You would have multiple projects and be given the chance to dive into the process and progression of new and existing projects. Employees in this role lead the early-stage project management function supporting project origination and preparing for the execution of new fossil fuel power generation projects. Projects include natural gas-fired simple cycle and combined cycle power generation projects. This job coordinates site selection and due diligence, conceptual design, capital estimating, schedule development, major equipment supply and construction contract procurement and supports commercial agreement development to ensure the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner with an acceptable level of risk. This position participates in all aspects of the project to ensure projects are completed on time, within budgetary constraints and perform according to expectations.
This position is responsible for the overall management of assigned organization and projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. Successful candidates manage the engineering, procurement and construction oversight-activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up, and commence commercial operations.
