Osmose Utilities Services is seeking a Sr, Product Engineer UAS (Uncrewed Arial System) will work under the direction of Director Product Management to develop and execute a strategy for innovation that enables new capabilities for Osmose and its Aerial Services portfolio. The Product Engineer is responsible for research, engineering, and technical development for bringing new products (services) to market while maintaining existing products (services).
This is an in-office position based in ATLANTA, GA, with the option for hybrid once the candidate can work independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Prioritize safety as the foremost consideration in all aspects of UAS flight operations, promoting a culture of safety consciousness. Identify hazards and mitigating risks wherever possible.
•Develop products, services and solutions (both enhancements to existing products as well as development of new products and services) for inspection and mitigation of utility infrastructure. This involves research, design, testing, documentation, and attention to all details necessary to bring new products and services to market.
•Stay informed on all regulatory matters related to the Federal Aviation Administration and drone operations. Execute the company’s strategy for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS).
•Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of airspace regulations and expertise in obtaining necessary clearances and waivers from the FAA and other regulatory agencies, always ensuring compliant and safe UAS operations.
•Work with engineering and technical resources to create clear and effective technical specifications for the product or service. Work with the Business Development, Operations, and Contracts teams to implement new product specifications as well as updating existing specifications.
•Work with Product Managers to provide input to help create sales plans and strategies in concert with Business Development to cover target accounts, to optimize the sale of services and products and to promote benefits of Osmose solutions over competitor alternatives.
•Provide support to Lines of Business (Operations) in all aspects of flight operations including training, research and development, consulting, and data delivery.
•Develop external and internal partnerships that support the success of the product or service.
•Create documentation and references to ensure consistent and effective operations and training practices.
•Work with Product Managers to evaluate technologies and services, conducting market analysis to ensure viable business cases and achievable revenue targets.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clearly convey the technical and operational capabilities of Osmose UAS technologies and services.
•Demonstrate a commitment to excellence by continuously refining UAS flight operation workflows, leveraging technological advancements and best practices to enhance efficiency, address shortcomings, and ensure the delivery of high-quality data and services to clients.
•Support successful development and integration of procedures and services into the business.
•Actively participate in UAS and remote sensing organizations, representing the company at industry events and speaking engagements.
•Pursue continuous self-development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in UAS technology and flight operations.
•Contribute to additional projects and initiatives to help achieve the company's financial objectives and support profit growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field (preferred); equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience in GIS, drone operations, or UAS technology will also be considered.
•Minimum of three (3) years of experience in UAS and/or remote sensing operations, preferably with experience in the electric and/or telecom utility space.
•Possess a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required) and a private or commercial pilot’s license (preferred)
•Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to utility industry executives.
•Self-motivated with a commitment to the company's core values and policies.
•Willingness to travel and work varied hours as needed.
Work Environment:
•Generally works in a professional office environment but will occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
