Position Specific Description

As a member of a highly-specialized air quality group within NextEra Energy Pipeline Services Company (NEPSCO) Environmental, Health, Safety, and Emergency Response Department, the Sr. PGD Environmental Specialist - Permitting and Compliance Engineer would be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and municipal air quality regulations for NEPSCO operated pipeline and mine methane flare project assets. The candidate would also be responsible for the air permitting for new and existing assets across the United States in coordination with the project execution teams. The successful candidate will assist in the permitting efforts for new facilities and play a key role in the compliance assurance for facilities covered under existing permits and air quality regulations. The Sr. PGD Environmental Specialist would also maintain compliance calendars, prepare emission calculations, schedule emissions monitoring and testing, file necessary forms and reports, conduct facility audits, liaise with government officials during inspections, and assist in the preparation and implementation of corrective action plans, where necessary. Ancillary duties include advising management of pending changes in air quality regulations and their potential impact to operations. This position reports to NEPSCO's Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety.


Desired Skills & Experience:

Thorough understanding of New Source Review (NSR) permitting, and requirements under the New Source
Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations;
Specific knowledge of the NSPS OOOOa/b/c regulations
Experience in air quality compliance in the oil and natural gas sector;
Technically-proficient engineer/specialist adept at emission calculations, data analysis, control technologies, compliance auditing, permitting, and strategic regulatory analyses;
Proficient in emission calculation software and air quality databases management;Self-starter with strong cognitive problem-solving abilities;
Team player with demonstrated history of meeting project deadlines; and
Motivated goal-oriented individual with excellent organization, planning & implementation, time-management, and quality control skills;
Ability to understand and communicate risks associated air permitting and compliance to leadership and within project execution teams.


Preferred Candidates will have:

10+ years of experience in air quality permitting and compliance;
BS in engineering, meteorology, environmental sciences, other discipline related to the position;
Ability to work in a results driven, fast -paced environment;
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, proposal and presentation);
Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; and
Able to travel up to 30% to and from company assets (primarily in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Texas), proposed project sites, and for other agency/project meetings.

Valid driver's license required and successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.


Job Overview

Employees in this senior-level role are responsible for assuring execution of the PGD Environmental Management System and ensuring plant water chemistry parameters are maintained in accordance with fleet recommendations.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

Maintains water chemistry Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) program and communicates corrective measures to the site/plant

Conducts sampling activities as needed by site environmental permitting
Completes required reporting to local/state/federal agencies
Conducts routine self-inspections
Oversees the plant or site safety program as required
Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

High School Grad / GED

Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
Experience: 5+ years
