About this opportunity:
The Conventional Operations Team is looking to fill one Calgary-based Senior Operations Engineering roles for the conventional business. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Conventional Operations Engineering, this highly dynamic role has primary accountability for key aspects of the P&L, is responsible for the development and implementation of the base asset strategy for value maximization, and is responsible for all aspects of Operations Engineering, troubleshooting and technical support through the well production and field facilities disciplines to achieve a safe, compliant and efficient operation.
What you’ll do:
•Promote safety as a core value in all job functions. Champion a focus on Process Safety in design and operation, acting as a key stakeholder and collaborator in PSE responses
•Primary accountability for all key aspects of the P&L for the geographic area of responsibility, including production, operating costs, and operations capital. Collaborate closely with the area Foreman to drive optimized business and safety performance and achieve business plan objectives and targets
•Responsible for all aspects of production engineering, including well performance and decline mitigation, artificial lift design and optimization, and intervention programs
•Act as a key contributor to full field development planning and new well tie-in and onstream planning
•Provide technical infrastructure engineering support to operations, including field optimization, compressor evaluations, and understanding applicable codes & standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, CSA Z662, API)
•Primary contact for managing day-to-day plant activities. As workload dictates, provide clear communication and transfer of duties to the area Operations or Facilities Engineer
•Shared responsibility for shutdown scoping, planning, and execution with Field Leadership
•Foster a collaborative environment with field personnel to develop and implement engineered solutions to maintenance and operational issues
•Accountable for project technical scoping, design, cost estimating, and economic analysis for the facilities under their responsibility. Prepare and present project justification material to an integrated team to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives and budgets
•Engage key stakeholders and collaborators (including Finance, JI, Field Operations, PRA, and Marketing) to review monthly plant business performance, challenge anomalies, and identify and implement opportunities to optimize area value
•Provide mentorship in areas of expertise to other staff. Leverage peer knowledge to bolster understanding in areas of less experience. Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing and open communication across Deep Basin Production Operations
•Promote and evaluate the implementation of new technologies
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
•Legally authorized to work in Canada
•Professional Engineer sanctioned by APEGA with ability to authenticate mechanical engineering deliverables
•Eight or more years of relevant operations, facility and production engineering experience. Less experienced engineers will be considered for the role at the appropriate level
•Knowledge and application of frequently used codes (ASME B31.3, CSA Z662 etc.)
•Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas industry and facility design
•Strong communication skills with an ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams including Field Operations, Maintenance, Regulatory, Finance, Commercial, Marketing and external companies
•Must be able to multi-task effectively and manage competing deadlines
•Strong operations troubleshooting skills with an ability to make timely and consistent decisions on a broad variety of topics
