Summary Description
Under the direction of the Operations Manager this role will focus on preparing accurate, competitive and comprehensive proposals for electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential:
•Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
•Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
•Complies with customer/jobsite safety policy and procedures.
•Performs estimating of all field and testing hours and validates all materials and equipment costs necessary to provide a complete scope of work.
•Develops and submits detailed estimates for low-, medium-, and high-voltage testing projects (per NETA and NFPA 70B/70E standards).
•Reads and interprets technical specifications, one-line diagrams, and electrical drawings.
•Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to define scope and resource needs.
•Maintains thorough knowledge of the latest industry materials, installation techniques and attends related training sessions.
•Meets with customers both existing and new to determine the requirements of bid work or on-going key service accounts.
•Prepares cost estimates including labor, equipment, subcontractors, and material pricing.
•Maintains vendor and subcontractor relationships to obtain accurate pricing and delivery timelines.
•Assists in bid strategy, proposal writing, and client presentations when necessary.
•Tracks historical cost data to support budgetary and design estimates.
•Participates in post-bid reviews and project handoff meetings.
•Provides project management support with key accounts, as needed.
•Attends customer requested project meetings to review on-going project work and manages day-to-day activities on assigned accounts, as needed.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Skills/Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
•5+ years of electrical estimating experience, preferably in NETA-certified testing or electrical contracting environments.
•Strong understanding of power distribution systems, protective relays, switchgear, transformers, and testing methodologies.
•Proficiency in estimating Microsoft Excel software.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and specifications.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Knowledge of NETA standards, NFPA 70B, 70E, and OSHA regulations preferred.
•Manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
•Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision.
•Effective listening and writing skills.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills
•Strong computer capabilities, including word processor, spreadsheet and database
•Must be confident and decisive, self-motivated.
Physical Requirements:
•Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8-to-10-hour shifts.
•Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day and/or sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
•Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending 4 to 5 hours/day.
•Twisting (180° ) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day.
•Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours/day.
•Lifting weights of 0 to 75 lbs. at the following frequencies: continuous lifting of 10 to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting of 35 to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting of 50 to 75 lbs.; sizes & shapes of objects vary from concrete blocks to cylinders to 10’ lengths of metallic conduit and 20' lengths of PVC conduit; average carry requirements, 60 lbs. for 40'.
•Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder.
•Repetitive use of hands includes: continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; fine motor coordination for equipment adjustments and test set use; and for writing, typing, data entry and filing.
•Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, conduit benders and vertical climbing.
•Vision adequate for computer use, reading, blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification.
•Hearing adequate for phone use.
•Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
•Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0° F to 100° F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, and odors within the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL).
•Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards.
•Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves.
