The Sr Director Commercial Project Manager (CPM) will oversee the commercial management of large-scale data center power infrastructure projects, ensuring full contractual, financial, and commercial compliance throughout the project lifecycle. This role serves as the key interface between internal teams, external partners, and customers, with full accountability for margin protection, scope compliance, risk management, and financial oversight from contract award to project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Risk Management•Administer and monitor project contracts, ensuring full adherence to all commercial terms and obligations.
•Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial risks in coordination with legal, procurement, and project teams.
•Lead preparation, submission, and negotiation of commercial claims, change orders, and variations with sound financial and contractual justification.
Project Financials
•Own and manage full project P&L, including revenue recognition, cost control, margin performance, and cash flow forecasting.
•Oversee invoicing, payment tracking, and ensure alignment with contractual milestones and payment schedules.
•Collaborate closely with finance to manage accruals, budget compliance, and financial reporting.
Stakeholder Communication & Governance
•Serve as the primary commercial liaison for customers, suppliers, and internal executive leadership.
•Prepare and deliver commercial performance updates for internal project reviews and steering committees.
•Coordinate with legal, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project alignment on scope, schedule, and commercial targets.
Change & Claims Management
•Lead negotiations on scope changes, delays, and deviations from original contract terms.
•Prepare full supporting documentation for contractual entitlements, time extensions, and cost recovery.
•Maintain detailed commercial change logs, risk registers, and supporting documentation.
Compliance & Reporting
•Ensure compliance with internal commercial policies and external regulatory requirements.
•Track and report on key financial and commercial metrics, including contingency utilization, warranty exposure, and liquidated damages.
•Support project audits and close-out processes.
Systems Development
•Support implementation of software and tools to streamline reporting, financial tracking, change management, and commercial control mechanisms.
•Collaborate with IT and internal stakeholders to optimize ERP integration, reporting dashboards, and system-based risk monitoring.
Requirements
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field required; MBA or JD preferred.
•5+ years of commercial or project management experience within energy, infrastructure, or construction industries.
•Proven experience managing EPC or turnkey contracts (FIDIC, NEC, or similar), including negotiation of change orders.
•Strong financial management skills, including P&L oversight, budgeting, and forecasting.
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
•Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite; experience with Accounting ERP Software preferred.
•Strong risk management and contractual compliance experience.
