This position is responsible for performing detailed engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks with little supervision, performing engineering tasks as a member of the design team on multiple small to medium sized projects with a moderate level of technical difficulty. This position receives technical guidance on new design topics that have not been experienced by the Senior Design Specialist. The Senior Design Specialist works closely with Senior Engineers on unusual or complex projects or engineering tasks which are not familiar to the Senior Design Specialist.
•Apply sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments with supervision and assistance from other engineers, specialist, and managers
•Perform a variety of basic engineering tasks to assist in the production of plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documents moderate supervision by other engineers and supervisors
•Ability to provide reliable and consistence customer service.
•Ability to manage multiple satisfied customer and deliver projects on time.
•Develop and maintain quality relationships with customers and clients.
•Maintain a collaborative spirit in working in a team
•Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
•Appropriate technical degree or related experience
•4 to 6 years utility design or demonstrated job knowledge
Preferred Qualification
•Knowledge and expertise in the specific utility systems you specialize in, such as water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, natural gas transmission, or electrical power generation and distribution
•Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards and codes relevant to utilities design, construction, safety, and environmental compliance
•Knowledge in using sophisticated computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized design software relevant to your area of expertise
•Knowledge of the latest developments and emerging technologies in the utilities industry
•Knowledge of geotechnical considerations, environmental impacts, and mitigation strategies
•Skill to perform complex design tasks, simulations, and analyses to optimize utility system performance and efficiency
•Skill in identifying and resolving intricate technical challenges in utility system design and operations
•Skill in leading and managing utility design projects, overseeing teams, budgets, timelines, and quality control
•Skill in effective communication both written and verbal to collaborate with various stakeholders, including engineers, regulators, clients, and contractors
•Skill to assess and mitigate risks associated with utility projects and operations
•Skill to think creatively and find innovative solutions to enhance utility performance and sustainability
•Ability to critically evaluate utility system designs, proposals, and data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
•Ability to develop long term utility system plans and strategies to meet future demands and challenges
•Ability to seek opportunities for process improvement and staying updated on industry best practices
•Ability in making informed decisions based on technical expertise, cost considerations, and project objectives
•Ability to mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and expertise
