Adelphia Gateway, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, is seeking a dedicated Sr. Damage Prevention Technician responsible for the front-line defense against third-party damage to our natural gas transmission facilities. This role will manage the Company’s One Call program and schedule mark outs in compliance with regulations. Oversee field activities such as patrolling, locating, construction inspections, excavation inspections or standby of Company pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, and other related transmission facilities to ensure regulatory compliance and serve as the company liaison for all pipeline encroachments.
- Reviews air patrol reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company procedures, recommends follow-up actions.
- Maintains ongoing communication with One Call ticket excavators, designers, and right-of-way owners.
- Prepares and updates all foreign crossing reports using initial survey data, current GPS data and other information to support and update of the Integrity Management Program.
- Monitors all on site third party excavations within Right-of-Ways (ROW).
- Locates and maintains pipeline markers, and ensures accurate facilities marking prior to and during encroachments and excavations in accordance with the Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures. Provides oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection complies with Company procedures.
- Identifies, evaluates and reports breaches of pipeline safety and security within Right-of-Ways (ROW); contact local law enforcement when needed.
- Ensures proper reporting and compliance with safety and environmental policies.
- Performs pipeline patrols, population density surveys and inspections per Company procedures.
- Evaluates existing exposed pipelines and related equipment for coating condition , corrosion, and condition of the pipe; reports and addresses deficiencies per Company policy.
- Assists with local damage prevention activities.
- Responds to complaints and inquiries from landowners, regulators and others regarding right-of-way issues and questions.
- Maintains clear and accessible Right-of-Ways (ROW) through regular inspections and obstructions removal.
- Reviews and ensures all right-of-way encroachments comply with federal, state and local regulations, as well as with company guidelines.
- Assists with gas leak surveys on gas transmission pipelines and related equipment; classifies leaks, prepares thorough written reports, and ensures leak detection equipment calibration and maintenance certificates are current.
- Controls hazardous situations, determines appropriate action and notifies public safety agencies if required.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the following: cathodic protection survey, leak surveys, ROW maintenance, transmission pipeline operation and maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to present information effectively to employees and contractors, individually or in a small group setting.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license; travel is required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations
- Team oriented with attention to details and ability to follow directions, adhere to required work schedules and follow work rules.
- Must be available for shift work , and weekends as workload requires.
- Must respond to and address callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours, including after dark and holidays.
- Ability to work in all types of weather.
- Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; noise level in the work environment may be above 90 decibels.
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, and the risk of electrical shock and vibration. May work near toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Required to reach with hands and arms above head as well as stoop and kneel to reach items below normal reach. Occasionally required to use sense of smell.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $66,300- $84,500.Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.
This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.

This position is deemed safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) regulations.
